Sources used to identify results
Our data partner provides a holistic solution to due diligence and compliance requirements. Global data sources are continuously updated, reflecting the ever-changing risks to corporates and financial institutions in their dealings with global counterparties. The data includes millions of profiles on high-risk individuals and corporations worldwide.
Using information pulled from this combination of both modern and traditional data-gathering methods, accurate results help ensure you're equipped to make an informed decision on your client.
What about false positives?
We do our best to ensure these are kept to a minimum, whilst still maintaining the robust risk-based approach required by legal and financial regulators.
If you are confident that a match is a false positive and it bears no relation to your client, you can dismiss the relevant match from within the Thirdfort portal. For more information on how this works, please see our related article: How to dismiss PEP & Sanctions hits
If you have a query about a specific match, please reach out to us via the live chat in the corner of the page.
Name-matching logic
We use a fuzzy name-matching and phonetic name-matching process to ensure that variations and misspelt names are captured.
We also look at a combination of the client's name and/or year of birth, rather than one singular factor and may surface matches linked to a different year of birth to account for source material inaccuracies. The results are displayed in order of relevance.
Eg. an exact name and date of birth match will be at the top of our list, and a similar-sounding name that has only a year of birth match or no date of birth record on file will be towards the bottom of the list.
Do you check internationally?
We cover all jurisdictions and nationalities globally for our PEP & Sanctions searches. We scan for PEP, sanctions, warnings and adverse media matches.
