TLDR: The Identity Document Verification (IDV) check allows verification of a client's identity document authenticity using a photo or scan, without requiring app use. AI detects tampering and checks a live database for lost or stolen documents. While it confirms document authenticity, it doesn't verify the person's identity. It is recommended to use IDV alongside other tools for regulatory compliance.
Identity Document Verification (IDV)
With the Identity Document Verification check, you can verify the authenticity of your client's identity document without the need for them to use the app. This means you can receive a full document report for your client in just a few minutes.
All you need is a photo or scan of your client's document that you can upload into our portal. We use artificial intelligence to check documents for signs of tampering, forgery and counterfeiting. We also run a database check to determine whether the document has been reported to the police as lost of stolen, pulling on results from a live database.

How do IDV checks help me meet regulatory requirements?
When used in combination with other tools, such as a PEP & Sanctions screening, or our Lite Screening, and IDV check can be a powerful way to build a picture of who your client is.
While an IDV check can tell you whether a document is authentic, it cannot verify the identity of the person using that document. We recommend using our IDV check when you're confident of the identity of the person who is providing the documentation.
