Completion of an Enhanced NFC ID Check requires a passport containing a biometric chip and an NFC-capable device.
If completion of an Enhanced NFC ID check has not been possible this will be displayed at the top of the ID report.
Your client will then have been directed to complete our Original ID check. This can be completed using a non-biometric enabled passport, driver's license, national ID card or residence permit.
Why the Enhanced NFC ID check was not possible
When it has not been possible for your client to complete our Enhanced NFC ID check, the reason will be displayed in Appendix 2 of the report.
If the report indicates that obtaining information from the passport NFC chip was not possible/successful this is a result of one of the following:
- The client’s phone does not have NFC capabilities to read the chip
- The client’s passport does not have a biometric chip
- The biometric chip in the passport is damaged
- The client skipped the step in the app and indicated that they do not have a passport
- User error when attempting to scan the biometric chip
