UK Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework
Created by DCMS (Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport), the DIATF is a new government certification scheme for digital identity service providers. The trust framework aims to make it easier and more secure for people to use services that enable them to prove who they are or information about themselves. ID providers who meet the rules and obtain certification under the Framework will be awarded a trust mark.
Following a rigorous independent audit on various aspects including privacy and data security, interoperability, accessibility and inclusivity, Thirdfort has been certified as a Digital Identity Service Provider (IDSP) under the framework for Right to Work and Right to Rent checks.
What kind of ID can be used to complete a RTW/RTR check?
Digital RTW/RTR under DIATF are only permitted on British or Irish citizens currently via a passport or Irish passport card.
Which Thirdfort checks can be used for RTR/RTW?
Both Enhanced NFC ID and Original ID can be used for RTR/RTW. Given Digital RTW/RTR under DIATF are only permitted on British or Irish citizens currently via a passport or Irish passport card, please note the following:
- Original ID: When conducting an Original ID check on your client please ensure that only a passport is used to complete the check.
- Enhanced NFC ID: Helps to ensure only passports are used however, please ensure the person being verified is a British or Irish citizen.
What about non-UK persons?
All Digital DIATF checks for now by certified providers are limited to British or Irish citizens so currently non-British or Irish individuals will need to be vetted using the Government’s Share Code for RTW and RTR.
