TLDR: Authorised users can permanently skip eligible client tasks, recording a reason in the activity log. Skipping removes or changes related report results, locks the client out, and varies by task. ID verification, personal details, and address verification cannot be skipped.
You can skip a client's task on a check directly from the Thirdfort platform
If a client cannot complete a task, or the task is no longer needed, you can skip it yourself without contacting Thirdfort's Client Support. This article explains how to skip a task, what each skip removes from the report, and who has permission to do it. This article covers the tasks your client completes as part of a check, such as Source of Funds or Proof of address. It does not cover Tasks, the approval flow feature.
How do I skip a task?
- Open the check that contains the task you want to skip.
- Find the task in the check's progress bar at the top of the page. Each task that can be skipped has a Skip button.
- Select Skip. Before you confirm, the platform shows you what the report will lose as a result.
- Enter a reason for skipping the task.
- Confirm the skip.
Skipping a task is final and cannot be undone. Your client is locked out of that task as soon as you confirm.
Is a skipped task recorded?
Yes. The name of the person who skipped the task and the reason they gave are recorded in the check's activity log. This gives you a full audit trail for compliance purposes.
Which tasks can be skipped, and what happens to the results?
Each task affects the report differently when it is skipped. Check the table below before you confirm a skip.
| Task | What happens when you skip it |
|---|---|
| Source of Funds | The questionnaire answers and any evidence the client uploaded are removed from the report. |
| Bank statements | The bank data request is removed, along with any bank data the client has already uploaded. |
| Proof of address | The Proof of address result moves to Consider, even if it had already passed. |
| Proof of ownership | The request is removed, along with any documents the client has already uploaded. |
| NFC chip scan | Only the NFC chip scan is skipped. The check falls back to an Original ID check. |
Who can skip a task?
Task skipping is switched on for every organisation by default. Whether you can use it depends on your role.
| Role | Can skip tasks? |
|---|---|
| Check creator | Yes, on their own team's checks |
| Team admin | Yes, on their own team's checks |
| Compliance admin | Yes, on all checks within their organisation |
| Org admin | No |
| Viewer | No |
| Approver | No |
Which tasks cannot be skipped?
The following tasks cannot be skipped and will not show a Skip button:
- ID verification. The ID check itself is always required. Only the NFC chip scan within it can be skipped.
- Personal details.
- Address Verification.
Why can't I see the skip button?
- The Skip button only appears to specific roles, as shown above. Ask an admin in your organisation to check your role if you're unsure.
- The Skip button also disappears once a task has finished or is already being processed.
