Screening results are categorised into six dataset types, based on where the match was sourced from.
The matching engine searches across all datasets available in LSEG World-Check, both public and private sources that the LSEG World-Check research team scans against. Each result is tagged with the dataset category it was sourced from.
What does each dataset category mean?
| Category | Description |
|---|---|
| Sanctions | The entity or group is listed on an international, supranational, or national sanctions list, subject to restrictive measures such as an asset freeze, investment ban, travel ban, or trade embargo. |
| PEP (Politically Exposed Persons) | The entity appears on LSEG World-Check affiliated databases as politically associated. This could be because the entity is a State-owned Enterprise (SOE) where a state owns 50% or more, a State-Invested Enterprise (SIE) where a state owns between 10-50% inclusive directly or indirectly, or where a PEP is associated with the entity. |
| Regulatory Enforcement | Official regulatory, administrative or civil action has been taken against the entity by a government or independent regulatory agency for violating administrative rules, codes or regulations. |
| Law Enforcement | The entity is listed as having been investigated, charged, prosecuted, convicted, wanted or arrested, on an official law enforcement public domain site. |
| Other Bodies | Miscellaneous lists that don't fall under Sanctions, Law Enforcement or Regulatory Enforcement, plus specific subsets of LSEG World-Check data and any other uncategorisable data. |
| Special Interest Categories (SICs) | Classifications from media, sanctions, or law and regulatory enforcement sources, indicating the nature of alleged or actual offences, or the status of explicit and implicit sanctions that may apply to the data subject. |
