TLDR: The "Prevent users completing reviews on checks they created" setting on Thirdfort's Client Due Diligence Platform stops users from reviewing checks they initiated themselves, ensuring independent review. It can be enabled at organisation or team level, requiring confirmation and availability of an eligible independent reviewer before activation. By default, this setting is off.
Prevent own check resolution stops users reviewing checks they initiated themselves
This article explains the "Prevent users completing reviews on checks they created" setting in Organisational settings on Thirdfort's Client Due Diligence Platform, what changes when it's enabled, and who it affects.
What does this setting control?
By default, any user in your organisation with reviewer permissions can complete, self-review or self-assign a review on a check they initiated. This setting means an Organisational Admin turn that ability off, so every check that requires review must be assigned to an independent reviewer instead. It's available at both organisation level and team level.
Where do I find this setting on Organisation settings?
At organisation level, go to organisational settings on Thirdfort's Client Due Diligence Platform and look for "Prevent users completing reviews on checks they created"
| Field | Detail |
|---|---|
| Setting label | Prevent users completing reviews on checks they created |
| Setting description | Prevent users from completing reviews for checks they created. Ensure an eligible reviewer is available before enabling this setting. |
Can I set this at team level instead?
Yes. The same setting is available within a team's own settings, so you can restrict this for one team without changing the setting for the rest of your organisation.
To find it, open the relevant team's dashboard, then select Team settings.
A team's setting starts out inherited from the organisation setting, shown with an Inherited from organisation label next to the toggle. Turning the toggle on for that team overrides the organisation setting, for that team only.
| Field | Detail |
|---|---|
| Setting label | Prevent users completing reviews on checks they created |
| Setting description | Override the organisation setting for this team. |
| Default status | Inherited from organisation |
What happens when I turn this setting on?
Once your enable the setting, the user who created a check can no longer complete, self-review or self-assign a review on that check. Those options are hidden from them, and they're guided to assign to someone instead, so the review is always completed by an independent reviewer. Everyone else continues to review checks as normal.
What happens if I leave this setting off?
This setting is off by default at both organisation and team level. Nothing changes for your organisation or any team unless an Organisational Admin chooses to enable it.
What should I check before enabling this setting?
Make sure an eligible reviewer, other than the person creating the check, is available before you enable this setting, whether you're setting it for your whole organisation or a single team. If no other reviewer is available, a created check could be left without anyone able to complete its review.
