TLDR: The Thirdfort app requires iOS 18+ and Android 11+ to improve stability and security. Older OS versions will no longer be supported, preventing errors and Thirdfort will guide users to update their OS or switch to a compatible device while retaining login access.
To ensure the Thirdfort app remains as secure, fast, and dependable as possible, we are updating the minimum supported operating system (OS) versions required to run the Thirdfort app.
What is changing?
With our latest app release, Thirdfort will now require:
- Apple (iOS): iOS 18 or higher (previously iOS 15)
- Android: Android 11 or higher (previously Android 9)
Why is this happening?
As mobile technology evolves, supporting older operating systems limits our ability to provide the best experience for your clients.
Raising the baseline allows us to focus our engineering and testing capacity where it matters most, delivering several key benefits:
- Improved stability: Older devices often struggle with limited memory and processing power, leading to unexpected app crashes. By focusing on modern hardware, we can ensure a smoother, crash-free journey for your clients.
- Enhanced security: Older operating systems (such as Android 9 and 10) no longer receive full security patch coverage from manufacturers. Raising our minimum OS version reduces exposure to unpatched system vulnerabilities, keeping client data protected.
- Faster innovation & maintenance: Removing support for legacy software allows our team to update underlying tools and libraries faster, spend less time working around legacy bugs, and release new app improvements more quickly.
What does this mean for your clients?
Clients attempting to use the Thirdfort app on an unsupported OS or outdated app version will no longer encounter "No transactions found" error messages.
Instead, the app will clearly guide them to either:
- Update their device’s operating system to the latest supported version, or
- Switch to an alternative compatible device (such as a newer smartphone or tablet) to complete their tasks. Please note, they can still use their own mobile number to log in on the alternative device, and a new check won’t be required.
